Moving South at Flanagans Back to Flanagans . Roadwork is not quite complete. Forecast says cool with wind chill & wind increasing so tog up accordingly. After some checks of our plantings & the two Acacia saligna , the main focus will be moving south in Coupe 1 , with those born to chop moving into Coupe 2 . Asparagus experts still have a lot to do in Coupe 1 & Morning Glory over/through Lomandra is never ending. Bring your bags & I'll bring extras to leave for WCC  to pick up. The following Monday (4th August) we'll be at Hewitts Ck with the usual shift followed by our Annual Foundation Picnic (11th). If you're relatively new to the group its a great chance to meet the delightful reprobates who make up this Outdoor Womens & Mens Shed. 2024 Things Fall Apart: Wind & Deer A tough few days for our trees with a couple of Wattle wind victims on the Stony Road & another Banksia down, west of the Blackberry patch. Our attempt to save the large Hib...

Bushie Change of Routine We will swap sites, with next week being at Flanagans & tomorrow at Hewitts. This may also give our Flanagans Bowerbird time to repair his bower which was a bit crushed by a fallen branch. I've watered there a couple of times this last week & our babies are all doing well. Offerings for tomorrow: trim most branches from the fallen Banksia on the dirt track in the hope that the tree can survive horizontally repair/rescue/protect a line of deer victims along our track at the creek bend & check our existing protections creek level has dropped so we can get onto Lisa's site , remove rubbish, drag flood wrack off Crinums & bag any Madeira remove the big Asparagus & lay the rest of the cardboard in Manifest Destiny & continue weeding as per last week fish bike out of creek near the bridge. Bikers may care to inspect & add to their collections check SPATE site for continued occupation.  If vacated there are 2 fallen Banksias in t...

More to do More tree damage requiring Saws & Choppers, more deer damage repair (or at least a check of last week's victims), further weed work in  Manifest Destiny .  2024 Mustn't Grizzle about Drizzle There are a couple of above water sites in mind where gumboots will only be optional. there's a big fallen over Banksia at the back of Steve's Beach with Blackberry, Lantana & Crofton to be sorted Over towards the SPATE fence is a Cape Ivy patch that needs getting before it flowers/seeds Morning Glory above Ditch needs to be traced and pulled or cut at the base of the trees its monstering the Mother of Millions at the firepit is worth another visit ...and don't forget Andrew's Amnesia !!   2023 Lagoon still overfull  So apart from a few bits & pieces along the Cycleway there will be 3 main targets elsewhere: the weed smorgasbord that is Manifest Destiny finishing? off Andrew's Mistake Woodlands Creek edge; so Ted et Al can get maximum c...

Wind, Waves & Bambi Weed-seeking will be well down the priorities tomorrow after the depredations of the 3 above over the last few weeks.  Options offered: Another deposit of plastics, treated timber & other jetsam has been delivered to the back of the beach. There wasn't a lot on Friday but enough to warrant 2 or 3 of us with pick up sticks & bags to do a lap. There is a big square of sponge rubber just outside the SPATE fence which Uncle Peter Button said we could add to the SPATE pile at the south end of the fence. It will be a good thing to get done at the start of NAIDOC Week.  Peter is expecting some NAIDOC campers at SPATE for the week. Wetness & wind have brought down a number of trees/branches so sawyers are in for a busy morning. There were 2 down on the Dirt Track, a big Casuarina limb at the creek corner & further casualties elsewhere. Bambi is back & picking on some surprisingly small victims.  Carers will need secateurs to "cle...
