FA Questions

These questions/answers may assist anyone curious about our group

 What are you doing?

Basically, we find two plants competing and encourage one plant by trimming or removing the other.
We are working from the 'good bush' towards the weeds, weeding a little at a time and weeding often.
This takes the pressure off the native plants (esp. given the right weather conditions).

"Native seeds and spores are ready in the ground and the natural environment favours plants that have evolved in it. The balance is tipped back towards regeneration. Keep it that way, by always working where the strongest area of bush meets the weakest weeds."

Where do I start to learn how to care for bush?

  1. Select a plant from growingillawarranatives.org that you know is in our area
  2. Read up about that plant on that (GIN) site
  3. Find these plants some Monday and clear anything around it that is competing with it.

Why are you pulling out all the plants that are flowering?

Flowers are the best way to identify plants. Some showy weeds like the Taiwan lily have spectacular flowers.

I would like to help but I am too busy

Most of our members are retired but that is not a requirement. Some of our members have extensive gardens that they maintain. They say that going to bushcare helps them to sort out the priorities in their other work.

When do you meet?

Every Monday for 2 hours.

Start time is 8:30 am in daylight saving time otherwise 9 am.

Here is where we meet, the lower sign says we are here and the
QR code links to what we are doing today.
