June 5th week
Great Expectations/Division of Spoils
All lights appear to be green re the 7ha site becoming WCC Public land. Ross & I will still address the Councillors but there appears to be no opposition.
Forecast is cool with showers possible in the morning. If in doubt I'll email about 8.40am
Most work sites will be along our west edge, from the Stony Road to Manifest Destiny. If dry there are Tuckeroos to poison. Cape Ivy in flower, Passionfruit, Cassia are all waiting for you and Johnny Crinum-seed may have some pseudo planting to do.
2025 To Plant Before the Rain
We have 35 coastal natives through the WCC Nursery to put in & hope they survive the mid week weather. So that we don't get in each other's way I've split up the "activities" on offer:First thing is to clear patches for planting within the Lantana massacre site.
That will mean some more chopping/sawing/dragging & piling before we plant. We may require a bit of chainsaw work on the thicker & tougher lengths at the outset. This group will need some loppers plus planting trowel/spade & a water bottle or two.
The complications attached are that the Satin Bowerbird has rebuilt his bower about 10 metres from his prior site so we must try not to disturb & anti rabbit defences will be necessary. (4-6 workers).
At the south end of the coupe there is still Morning Glory to remove from Lomandra & a Banksia or two. I'll supply the bags needed here. (2-4 workers) The Chainsawyers will find further employment here too.
Asparagus Fiends ......there is yet more to do & berries to bag, but away from the Bower site for a few visits (2-4 workers)
There are a couple of "gardening" tasks for someone inclined to rescue native trees from native groundcovers
Sorry to be so prescriptive about tasks. In general, if you're happy to work where you did last time at Flanagans the division of labour should be fine.
