Springing back 

We have inserted an experimental Swamp Banksia into Manifest Destiny and there are still 4 or 5 other sapling trees needing protection so if anyone has some spare garden stakes/posts, we still have enough wire to fence them.

There has been further Deer damage, done this time to three native Hibiscus - they need a protective guard- and we lost an Illawarra Flame and a Bleeding Heart just across the ditch on Lisa's Site.
Cut them off below damage and they may re-shoot.

Back To Flanagans The low areas at Hewitts Crk are still under water & there is mud elsewhere. Flanagans will be considerably drier with its sand base. Choppers & Morning Glory gleaners can proceed to cleanse more of Coupe 2 while Asparagites continue their slow push south. Judging by McCauleys Beach there may also be some beach cleaning required. September 4th week

 Likely events As well as the Crofton, Fireweed and Montbretia shooting and flowering, if it rains, even average amount, there will be plenty to do. Turkey Rhubarb will soon flower. 2023 Back to Spring There were a lot of Croftons in flower last week along the Cycleway so it would be good to get them first up. There are also a few small scale weeding jobs waiting, including renewed acquaintance with the Velcro , Asthma & Stonecrop exotics. Choppers and cutters can do some more of each in Manifest Destiny, backed by some painting by a Poisoner. The Ditch may also be close to dry enough for some overhead chopping. Tomorrow is our last 9am start for a while.  Mon Oct 2nd is a Public Holiday, but if you don't get an invite to picnic with your favourite Union, Bushcare will be on from 8.30. May 4th week

High Tides The deluge last Thursday night washed the sand out of Hewitts Creek so the lagoon is now 2 metres lower than it was. That may mean the tidal surge will re-flood areas of Manifest Destiny & Lisa's Site . Won't know until we get there tomorrow but as all the low parts of our site were wet on Friday afternoon & Woodlands Creek was still 30 metres wide we'll have to make most of it up as we go tomorrow. Inspecting back of beach will be the first task. The safest bet is to start along the higher & drier Western Edge areas, like Stony Rd , behind the Blady Grass, up the dirt track & across to Andrews Amnesia. Secateurs & bags best for these areas. Brave souls can skirt Lake Zaremba and trust Bruce's rehabilitation of the Gillette Bridge over the Ditch because Madeira Vine is threatening over by the creek &  Lisa's Site needs further work.
