Main targets tomorrow at Hewitts:
Windy & cool with big seas & a 1.96m high tide due 9.30ish

2025 Back To Flanagans

We will return to our new project a week early for tomorrow's session.
Depending on numbers we may have up to 8 separate activities going, including:

  • rubbish collection, especially around beach side of Bay1
  • cut & poison Asparagus Fern in our already cleared area. Pile non-regrowth fronds.
  • roll up more Morning Glory runners & bag
  • cut up fallen timber....maybe a "nest" or two beginning
  • careful pull down & bag dead Morning Glory from Boobiallas, without damaging host trees
  • chop Morning Glory, Asparagus & Lantana along creek edge, outside log fence. Hang, bag & pile cuttings as required. There is some wire in the ground here to either pull out or cut off
  • attack Big Lantana, about 20m south of fence corner. Need to protect small Banksias close by.

2024 Mad dogs

Work in the shade & or breeze which means forest both sides of cycleway & up around the creek bend. An intrepid worker may reach the Woodlands Ck & bucket/shaduf our plantings there. 
Lilies, Polygala, Montbretia are still out there for the mad dogs & Englishpersons.

Busy time with the prolific summer growth.

2022 Work list

Weed growth is getting away from us in places. 


Lilies & Montbretia in the open areas will be one target but free-up weeding in the SE Corner, Steve's Beach & Condon's Corner are also priorities. 

The stone road down by Woodland Ck will have a challenging assortment by now as well.

Springing back  We have inserted an experimental Swamp Banksia into Manifest Destiny and there are still 4 or 5 other sapling trees needing protection so if anyone has some spare garden stakes/posts, we still have enough wire to fence them.  On offer: Velcro plant has reappeared beside cycleway, up near the bend creek edge & back of beach have junk deposits from our throw-away society some minor Turkey Rhubarb, Asparagus & Passionfruit growth along creek edge The full weed range on offer in Manifest Destiny with conditions ideal for extraction & some fallen timber cutting up for the sawyers a check along Stony Road & Woodlands Ck   2022   There has been further Deer damage, done this time to three native Hibiscus - they need a protective guard- and we lost an Illawarra Flame and a Bleeding Heart just across the ditch on Lisa's Site. Cut them off below damage and they may re-shoot.

July 3rd week

 Bushie Change of Routine We will swap sites, with next week being at Flanagans & tomorrow at Hewitts. This may also give our Flanagans Bowerbird time to repair his bower which was a bit crushed by a fallen branch. I've watered there a couple of times this last week & our babies are all doing well. Offerings for tomorrow: trim most branches from the fallen Banksia on the dirt track in the hope that the tree can survive horizontally repair/rescue/protect a line of deer victims along our track at the creek bend & check our existing protections creek level has dropped so we can get onto Lisa's site , remove rubbish, drag flood wrack off Crinums & bag any Madeira remove the big Asparagus & lay the rest of the cardboard in Manifest Destiny & continue weeding as per last week fish bike out of creek near the bridge.
