November 2nd week
Bridge down, Ditch dry, Weeds growing, Weather dry.
Hewitts Creek site again (8.30 start) with quite a few tasks waiting:
- Secateurists come ready to snip Stephania japonica from our shrubs & small trees. Its a native vine temporarily "invading". Common name is Snake Vine No.2. The No.2 is my name for it because we also have Snake Vine No. 1 on site (Hibbertia scandens)
We need at least 5 snippers along the creek bend, in Manifest Destiny & Andrew's Amnesia. - Bridge Doctors
- Morning Glory and Snake Vine 2 are prospering between the red flowering Melaleucas on the east side of the cycleway.
- Asparagus fern is getting away along the south side of The Mound.
- Madeira vine & Coral tree regrowth are off again by the creek in Manifest Destiny.
- Watering of recent plantings from both the creeks is needed given lack of moisture over last 10 days. We have buckets at both creeks.
- Too many Tuckeroos in some small areas so culling required. I counted 10 in a 4 sq metre area near the start of the Dirt Track. Cull by size & spacing, I guess.
2024 Offer:
Lily digging along the south side of the dirt track
Break up & strew the woodpile in Manifest Destiny.
Take on the flowering Honeysuckle east of the Cycleway
Halt a new Turk outbreak near the start of the dirt track
2023 Gladdies for Edna?
Coastal Gladdies will be first up tomorrow, followed by a general Lily search & dig, or a weeding return to Woodlands Ck. Coast Gladdies are very like Lilies in the removal technique (get the bulb).
Choppers can be employed along the Stony Road if they need to chop..
2022 Weed of the week - Ehrharta
Our efforts will be;- Honeysuckle regrowth beside Woodlands Creek - to be bagged,
- Ehrhata grass removal around plantings in Old Forest,
- Cape Ivy & grasses removal in SE Corner
- Disperse/spread fire evidence & deter Ochna & Lantana regrowth in newly planted area
